What is immunity?

Immunity refers to the body’s ability to protect itself from harmful bacteria, viruses or other microorganisms. Our immune system constantly keeps strengthening itself through regular interaction with the microbes present inside our body and in the environment.

A strong immunity helps us fight against diseases and is referred to as Ojas. These two systems are majorly responsible for our body’s overall health and wellness.

Prakriti of the body

The Prakriti is the inherent nature of the body. It is the state of an individual in its natural form.

In Ayurveda, there are 3 main types of Prakriti: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The Prakriti of the body can have a significant impact on the immunity of an individual.

What can you do to improve your Vyadhikashmatva?

Ayurvedic texts refer to immunity or the ability to resist diseases as Vyadhikashmatva. Vyadhikashmatva is majorly dependent on the digestive system. Your daily routine, the amount of water you drink, and the food you eat may impact the Vyadhikashmatva of your body. So, take care of all these factors.

Take care of your health with Ayurveda

Improving your Vyadhikashmatva is one of the most crucial aspects of healthcare. You can follow these ayurvedic tips to strengthen your immunity:

Ayurvedic Dinacharya:

Setting up a daily routine or “Dinacharya” is an essential part of Ayurveda. Our body and mind can enormously benefit from a regular schedule.

Start by making minor adjustments, like sleeping and waking up at the same time every day or going for a walk daily. Adopting a simple routine can help in comforting the nervous system and making the body stronger.

Your “Aahar” or diet is the most significant source of nutrients that can help boost your immunity. Eating a well-balanced diet based on your body’s Prakriti can go a long way in strengthening your immune system.

Use of Rasayanas:

Rasayanas are rejuvenating agents like herbs or tonics that strengthen the Ojas. They are known to improve resistance against diseases and overall health.

Here are some Rasayanas that may help in boosting your immunity:

  • Ashwagandha:

The roots, leaves, and bark of the ashwagandha plant have several medicinal properties. They can help in curing several diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and skin diseases.

  • Mulethi:

Mulethi or liquorice is an excellent Rasayana that can manage cough and cold.

  • Amla:

Amla is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C and helps in revitalising your system. It can also stimulate the regeneration of red blood cells in your body and improve overall health.

The immune system is our body’s defence force. Having a strong immunity is essential for the well being of your body. Love your body and follow the ayurvedic tips mentioned above to ensure optimal functioning of the immune system and get a happy, disease-free life!
